Swiss Airlines Hand Baggage Allowance

Swiss airlines allow passengers to take with them all their essentials and other valuable items in a small piece of hand baggage that could be taken on board. However, the passengers must always keep in mind that there is only limited space available on the aircraft and hence certain items are restricted on board. 

As far as the weight and dimensions of the baggage are concerned, the passengers ought to stick to the following parameters:

  • Hand Baggage Allowance for Economy class 

The passengers are allowed to carry one bag which must not go beyond 8 kg and for the measurement, it should not exceed dimensions that are 55x40x23 cms.

  • Hand Baggage Allowance for Business and First class 

The passengers who have reserved business or first class tickets are allowed to carry two bags that must not go beyond 8 kg and for the measurement, it should not exceed dimensions that are 55x40x23 cms.

The hand baggage must fit into the overhead locker or under the seat in front. However, it is always advised to travel light as travelling light would allow more convenience as far as boarding a flight with Swiss Air is concerned. 

  • List of Permitted Items On Board: Hand Luggage

  • Handbag, laptop bag or shoulder bag which should not exceed the following dimensions: 40x30x10 cms. 
  • A child's seat is allowed inside the cabin.
  • Medical equipment is allowed on the flight. 
  • The passengers are also allowed to take with them a pair of crutches, arm or leg splints and other sorts of prostheses.

  • Economy class 

There is no baggage included as part of the economy fare in Swiss Airlines. If you are travelling with the Light class then you will have to purchase baggage with Swiss Air. Nevertheless, the rates are low and one could easily afford it.

  • Business-class 

As far as Business class travel is concerned with Swiss Air, the airline allows passengers to carry two checked-in bags. However, the passengers must note that the bags must not exceed the weight allowance which is 32 kg and the maximum allowed weight is 64 kg. All the bags that exceed the maximum weight allowance will be charged accordingly.

  • Classic and Flex 

For passengers who have reserved a classic or flex flight with Swiss Air must stick to the weight allowance that is 23 kgs. The maximum allowed weight is 23 kgs. And the passengers are allowed to carry one bag. 

  • All the bags that are exceeding the size limit of 292 cms will not be accepted as baggage by Swiss Air.
