How can I select my seat without paying an extra fee?

  • When you create an account on the airline's official website, you redeem some points or vouchers which you can use to select your seat without any fee. 
  • When making the reservations, if you select your seat within 24 hours of reservation, you can avoid the seat selection fee. 
  • The seat selection fee is also not liable to passengers serving in the US military; American armed forces can select the seat for free. 

Why do I have to pay extra for seat selection? 

Paying the extra amount while selecting the seat is always beneficial as you will receive several facilities such as more comfortable seats with extra legroom, extra baggage, cabin seats, etc. If you change your seat to any higher class, you also pay the additional charges, depending on the seats left on the flight. 

What happens if you are not assigned a seat on a flight? 

Once you complete seat payments, the airline must assign you the seat. The airlines first assign the seat to those passengers who purchase the seat, then randomly provide the seats to other travelers. If the airline does not assign you a seat on the flight, they will allow the seat at check-in time. If the airlines do not assign the seat, you have to wait for 24 hours, and you are liable to receive compensation.

Is seat selection free at the airport?

The seat selection at the airport is not free only if you want to travel on your preferred seat, but on that seat which airlines allow automatically, you do not need to pay any charges. If anyone selects the seat due to any medical issues or traveling with any unaccompanied minor, then you will not need to pay any charges for seat selection.
